I’m just a boy with no friends at all

Too fat to love they call me butterball

I can’t seem to do anything right

Sometimes I wish I was out of sight

I wish I was special, I wish I was good

Then I would be happy, like everyone should

Here comes my bully to take my snack

No not this time I am going to fight back

I am tired of feeling the way that I do

So I am done and following through

Oh wow I am strong, I never knew that

I threw my bully right onto his back

Something inside is changing in me

I cannot be stopped I feel amazing

Me and my bully both sit outside

Talking a lot, and I feel alive

He tells his story and it is sad to hear

Hurt people hurt people, looks like my new journey begins here

I love poems because it puts us in a position to be vulnerable with other’s and sheds light on how other’s can feel in deep seeded situations. I learned several valuable lessons at a young age, and two of them that day was you have to stand up for yourself, and also that people who treat you bad are most likely just hurting inside too. This is part of the reason I am the way that I am today. I know how much power we posses individually, and I also know that when people feel good about themselves they want others to feel good as well.

I actually wrote this poem at the age of 37 because I had some friends doing a 21 day poem challenge and decided what the heck I do like a good poem from time to time. After writing it I felt I would share because it may help those going through a difficult time, or may remind those who have gone through tough times that yes the power and control is in your hands if you allow it to be.

It is important to have empathy for others, but also make sure other do not try to harm you in any way, and if they do you must stand up for yourself. It is also important to go to others for help if you feel you can not control the situation yourself.

Being great within is about being your very best self, and treating others with the respect they deserve. It is also about knowing as a person that you deserve proper respect as well, and to come from a place of love and empathy.

So remember be great today. Love your fellow man and woman, and make sure to love yourself as well.

Hope you have a blessed day, love others, and love yourself!

Hi Clifford, A really nice poem on several different levels. The self doubt and low esteem giving way to a determination to change. Taking action brought about a change and yet you remained true to yourself in becoming friends with your bully. My experiences were a little different, I had to fight several times just to be left alone but sometimes the struggle isn’t easily won.
    Keep writing, please.
