I know everyone has those moments from time to time. Where they no longer want to be at their job, but are those just fleeting emotions that will go away, or is there something more to it?
I remember the first job that I quit, and it was like a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders when I did. I really do not want you to go through the same life lessons I did. So I am going to give you 5 reasons you should absolutely quit your job.
You Feel Disrespected
In the work place there will be times when people have disagreements, and just do not see eye to eye. There are even times when you may get some constructive criticism to help you improve in your position. This is important for the business and you as an individual to continue to grow and learn.
Disrespect though is a whole different thing all together. No one should ever feel disrespect at their place of work, no matter who it is. The boss, another employee, or anyone for that matter should disrespect you. This is a two-way street though, so that means you should not disrespect others as well, and if you do it would be in everyone’s best interest to apologize. We are all human after all, but if you are doing your best in your position, and you constantly have the feeling you are being disrespected, it is probably time to leave.
You are a person with feelings, and should be treated as such. If you are constantly disrespected I highly doubt the situation will change. So be the one to change it by leaving. Stand up for yourself and go somewhere were they actually treat their employees with the respect that they deserve.
You Financially Struggle
This one might seem like a no brainier, but I have seen people stay in places way to long and get put into a financial strangle hold because of it. If your bills are extremely tight and it seems like nothing will change in the near future for your job, it might be time to go on a job search.
This is not something that has to happen overnight. You just want to give yourself enough leeway to be in a place where you can financially provide for yourself. There is nothing more stressful than being in a spot where you cannot keep up with your monthly finances. So plan ahead, and make sure you can cover your daily living expenses with the job you have.
If you have lowered your monthly bills as much as possible, and still are unable to regularly cover your bills, it is probably time to start job searching.
You Are Always Stressed
A little stress can be a good thing, but if you are constantly stressed that is another thing all together. Too much stress does not only affect you in the work place, you will be more difficult for others to be around. No one wants to be around someone who is stressed out all the time.
Honestly I bet you would not want to be around you stressed out all the time. So if this is you please quit your job. For your sanity and everyone else.
You Feel Harassed
If you feel harassed in any way first you should report it to see if there are any repercussions. No one should be harassed in the work place. It is quite illegal to do and no one should allow such actions to occur even if it was not against the law.
People should feel comfortable and safe and their place of work, and if you do not feel as such, file a report and leave that place. You do not deserve that. Go somewhere you will be treated with dignity and respect.
Know your worth, and do not let others bully you into thinking you are not being harassed if you feel that you are. Speak your peace and quit if you are not heard.
It Eats Your Soul
If you are doing something that just isn’t for you, don’t try to tough it out. It will break you down and slowly eat at your soul. There is a big difference between your soul being eaten, and you just not liking your job.
If you are just not fond of your job at the moment, but you can bear it and see future opportunities, I would say stick it out. It is a different if you are in a position were you are a nurse, but you hate blood and people. How that would happen I have not idea lol, but it was the only example I could think of at the moment.
Your soul is your energy source. If you absolutely feel your soul is being eaten, it is, and I would say get out before your job before it takes anymore of your life.
Remember You Have Power
So those are the 5 reasons I would absolutely quit my job. One of the most important reminders out of all of this is to remember that you have the power. Sometimes people will stay at a job they hate, even with all 5 of these things happening. They might make excuses like, I have to do this or I have no choice.
Always remind yourself that you have the power to stay or leave. I know that you survived before you had the job you are at, and you can survive without it again. Also, if any of these things are happening to you, watch what a relief it will be when you finally make the decision to leave.
Empower yourself and know what your worth is. Do not settle for anything less.
If you have had any experiences like the ones I have mentioned. Let me know in the comment below. It may help someone on the edge make the right decision for themselves. Plus I would love to hear your story.
Have a great day, and remember there is greatness in you!
