10 Way To Improve Positive Thinking

Positive thinking can be a challenge at times, but the more you practice certain habits the easier it will become. I am going to give you 10 habits you can practice improving on your ability to maintain a positive thinking mindset even during difficult times.

Just Breathe

It sounds so simple and yet it is one of the most empowering things you can do to get your mindset right. A few deep breaths can go along way when it comes to maintaining a cool head and keeping positive thoughts in your mind. Think about the last time you were extremely frustrated about something and a few deep breaths instantly calmed you down.

I sometimes think we take breathing for granted because it is something that we do 24/7. We can forget just how empowering it can really be to do.

I would like to pose a scenario for you though. Think about someone that you love with all of your being. You know you love that person, and the feeling of loving them never goes away it is with you all the time. Having that kind of love you have to respect it though. It is nice for that person to hear that you love them, and for them to tell you that you love them as well. It is about having the respect for one another and showing gratitude for the love you have for that person. If you take the relationship for granted it will die out and the bond will not be as strong.

The same is true for breathing. If you take it for granted, it will not be there for you in your time of need. Practicing proper breathing techniques through a variety of methods will help you when you really need it most. A person who has a level head will be more inclined to have positive thoughts.

So make sure to remind yourself how important it is to take a few deep breaths. Practice doing it when you do not need it, so you are able to do it when you do.

A few techniques I prefer would be Yoga, Meditation, and the Wim Hof Method. There are many forms you can try. Just use the one’s that work best for you.

Exercise

How good do you feel after having a great day of exercise. One of the best things about exercising is the dopamine hit the body gets from doing it. The best part about exercising is you get to choose which exercises will work best for you. Get creative with your exercise, and have fun with it. Even dancing is a form of exercise.

Just do enough to break a decent sweat. I guarantee with the right amount of exercise thinking positive will be a natural byproduct of it. I have never had a client have a good workout and not have a positive attitude and thinking after. Even if you are just having a crappy day, you would do yourself a disservice not to get a bit of a workout in. Put on your workout shoes and get it in. It will help to shake you out of a crappy mood, and most likely put a smile on your face.

Positive Affirmations

Sometimes the best thing to do to put you in positive thinking mindset is to simply say positive things. If life is kicking me and nothing is going my way. I will close my eyes and say the necessary things to get myself out of that funk.

This is something you can get creative with. Whatever gives you that feeling to stick your chest out and give you that can do attitude is the way to go.

I will usually tell myself “today is my day”,”I got this”, “I will get through this situation”,”I am capable”. These affirmations bring my attitude and thinking in alignment of positivity, and in a can do attitude.

Give them a try to see how well they work for you. Remind yourself there is greatness in you, and it is ok to say it and think it. Say it loud and proud and believe every word of it. Watch your body and spirit come to life, and feel the positive thinking manifest within you.

A yes that good old laughing to you start tearing up feeling. Those are the best lol. When you have a good laugh how can you not think positively. A good laugh can make some of the most dreadful situations feel ok. I personally believe laughing is great for the soul as well.

If you need that positive kick start to move you thinking into a more positive direction. Take a moment and give yourself permission to have a good laugh. Do whatever it takes. Watch a funny movie. Reminisce about one of the funniest times you had with friends or family. Go to a comedy club. You can even have someone tickle you if you dare haha. Do what is necessary to give yourself that good gut busting laughter and enjoy your day.

If you can record it for me too lol. Seeing people laugh makes me laugh. You see it’s a win-win for everybody 😀

Sunlight

We all know that feeling when you walk outside and you feel the sunlight hit your face. It just wakes you up and makes you feel good. Now if you live in Seattle I suggest you take a vacation somewhere where the sun actually comes out, and you will get what I mean too.

Sometimes the best thing you can do to get that positive mindset going is having a little sunlight wake you up to get the day started. Take the moment to go outside and feel it provide you with the energy you need to feel alive. When you feel alive you become more inclined to have positive thinking patterns.

It really is a simple way to get your body feeling good. Taking a walk in the park or where ever you would like. Feeling the sun hit your face, and thinking to yourself, today is a great day!

Healthy Eating Habits

In order to have the healthiest mindset possible, you have to be healthy in body. Think about it. How do you feel after a night of crappy food and drinking? You just aren’t as sharp. Task that would normally seem easy become more difficult.

Improper eating leads to a very sluggish feeling. If you had a car capable of performing at a high level, but you put horrible oil and gasoline in it, it would be incapable to perform at its optimal level. The same is true with your body and mind. You would not possibly be able to think your most positive thoughts feeling like crap.

Some simple things that can be done would be avoiding processed foods and foods with a lot of sugar. Avoid over consuming food as well. Too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing. Make sure to eat plenty of vegetables and eat different colors of vegetables to get a variety of vitamins and minerals. Fermented foods are also a great option to help with healthy gut bacteria. Also, make sure to drink adequate amounts of water. A hydrated mind and body will bring put you in a position to have positive thinking.

Doing these tips will keep your put your body and mind in a position to be successful in positive thinking. Take care of your mind and body, because if you do they will take care of you.

Right Environment

This one is extremely important. I always say that humans are like moving plants. A plant needs proper sunlight, the right soil, water, and fertilizer, to grow to its full potential. Humans are the same. You need the right people in your life, a place you feel comfortable, a healthy work environment, and the right foods to really function at your best.

Make sure you are in the right environment if you are looking to have positive thinking. It is quite difficult to think positive if you are in a place you do not want to be. This isn’t to say sometimes life sometimes will not give you a perfect situation. No one can predict what life will give us, but we do have some control over the environment we are in.

Put yourself in the best environment possible. Give yourself a support system. Whether it is through friends or even a remote location that you can call your own. Do what is necessary to put yourself in a place you can feel at peace, so that you can maintain your positive thoughts.

Rubberband Trick

Some may have difficult having positive thoughts on a regular basis. They may even think negatively most of the time. If you are a person who suffers from negative thinking on a regular basis, you can try the rubber band trick.

Basically you keep a rubber band on your wrist. Every time you have a negative thought, you give yourself a light snap on the wrist with the rubber band. What it is supposed to do is associate negative thoughts with a negative action.

This would work for those who associate negative thoughts as the normal thing. Some people are so use to thinking negative, they do not know how to think any other way. The rubber band trick may help those who have this consistent negative thoughts.

Perception

This is one of the most powerful techniques you can use for positive thinking. If you perceive things in a positive light it will not matter what happens you will have an iron clad mindset that will be unable to be phased by the lives tough times.

This is a technique that will take practice, but it is absolutely worth practicing. One way to start is focusing on what you do have in life. When you focus on what you do have it puts you in a place of abundance. Giving you a can do attitude. Having that in itself is a positive thinking process. Even if you just focus on one thing that you do have. Doing this will help those thoughts multiply. Focusing and thinking of one thing you have will help those thoughts multiply. The one will multiply into many and soon you will be thinking of all the things that you are capable of doing.

Another technique is taking everything in as a learning experience. All of life’s ups and downs are just experiences helping you become your best you. Enjoying your highs and learning from your lows. Put yourself in a place where life will give you every situation possible, and you will become stronger and more developed with each situation giving. Having this well give you a positive perspective of every situation. Allowing yourself to be put into a can do and positive thinking attitude.

Control What You Can

Too often people will try to control the uncontrollable or get frustrated about the things that they cannot. There really is no point in paying much mind to want you cannot control. If you do your chances of having any kind of positive thinking is not very likely.

Focus on what you can control, not on what you cannot. It really does not make much sense to even pay the uncontrollable any mind. When you know what you can control. Take action in controlling the situation to your best interest. Keep your positive thinking and mindset on the controllable, and enjoy the journey of what life has to offer.

Life really does have an infinite amount of wonders. It is up to us to choose if we see them or not. Proper practice in having a mindset that will keep you in a positive mode of thinking is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Providing an overall health in mind, body, and spirit.
